Tim Noah Book Reviews

PAT CASHMAN BLURB for
COUNTRY STORE - 10/27/2015  TV Personality, Seattle Area

Tim Noah does what he’s been doing his entire creative life: Entertaining, engaging and delighting kids of every age.  And he’s really done it this time!
The trip to the COUNTRY STORE might be the slap-happiest, toe-tappingest journey you ever took. And the best part is you can do it again and again in this unfailingly charming book and song.
No one person should be so gifted as to sing, play, tell a story---and illustrate so beautifully as Tim Noah does in the COUNTRY STORE. It just doesn’t seem fair to all the other children’s storytellers. Fiddle dee.
You can’t find a happier, more tuneful gift to give a child---or an entire family---a gift overflowing with wonderful pictures that bring the characters in Tim’s sunny COUNTRY STORE song fully to life.
It’s a sing-along book and magical tune that will become well-worn with use and love---so better keep a spare on hand. Because even on the gloomiest day, one quick trip to the COUNTRY STORE will have you singing and smiling once more!   (Excerpt from cover e-mail - Played the song and showed the book pages to my granddaughters over the weekend. To no surprise, they were completely enthralled...and were parroting the tune the rest of the weekend...and eve as my daughter drove them away back to home.  My wife, too was just knocked out by your piece. And she is the world's toughest audience. I don't even TRY to impress her with MY stuff anymore...She has been going through each illustration...looking for the amazing and subtle things going on in the barnyard, the rock cliffs...and so on. Just wonderful!)

This book is up-beat, spirited and drives the message home... that it's not about your destination, it's all about the journey.

A carefree little boy, singing a ditty, kicking a can, flipping his coveted nickel and accompanied by his dog, decides to go spend his fortune at the Country Store.

"Fiddley-diddley-diddley-dee
We're goin' to the Country Store

Fiddley-diddley-diddley dee
We're goin' to the Country Store."

Walking down the road he encounters his friend Bob who is busy doing farm chores. Bob persuades him to team up with him to do the chores and then they both can go to the store. The happy-go-lucky duo, free from responsibilities, still kicking that can and singing that ditty, proceed to the Country Store together.

The day is blistering hot, the sweat starts to pour down, the feet start to slowly drag until they think they are gonners. Along comes Jim on his bicycle and asks if they would like a ride or rather hike to the store? Jim is their superhero of the day!

Well the answer is pretty clear and they both pile on. Bob climbs on the back fender... Jim does the pedalling ... and the boy parks himself square on the handlebars. The trio laugh, sing out loud and merrily continue their journey without a care in the world.

They encounter some difficulties along the way but as friends do they stick together and ride out the troubles until finally they reach their destination... the good old Country Store. More friends greet them on their arrival and soon you discover there is only one with money to buy treats. Can you guess who? This fantastic book is about friendship, sharing, looking out for one another and is very entertaining and A-one.

Tim Noah is a composer, singer and his CD is included with the book. He is currently working on the second book in the series. For those of you who are teachers/educators, Tim and Cyndi "Soup" Elliot perform a variety of "workshops" in schools. Among them is a songwriting workshop. Tim knows music and TIm knows kids. He uses his considerable talents to create this absolutely charming song/ story that resonates with young children and the grown-ups who care for them. The refrain is catchy, and you'll find yourself singing it at odd times as you go through your day. The best part, for me anyway, is the message that it really is all about the journey and the friends you meet along the way. Do yourself a favor and find the rest of Tim Noah's recordings- for adults as well as kids- and snap them up. They're just lovely, affirming, and musically solid. (While you're at it, find Cyndi Soup's Imagine Inn- also just adorable!)

Great fun!

Delightful!

The trouble with the song Country Store by Tim Noah is that you can’t just listen to it once, at least my kids can’t. Tim Noah’s album goes into the CD player and my 3 children (ages 7, 4 and 4) must have the song repeated at least 3 times. I don’t really mind but I would also like to listen to some of Tim’s other songs. He has a knack for keeping kids entertained with silly voices and stories and at the same time keeps parents engaged with the effortless grace of a genuinely gifted singer, songwriter and storyteller. Country Store is a delightful story about friendship, fun and overcoming obstacles that get in your way. The song has a catchy tune that children and adults will enjoying singing and whistling along to. The Country store e version is available to download and my children are anxiously awaiting the print version.

Life is full of wonderful adventures

What a special treat this little book is, and the music alone is happy, upbeat and great for sing-alongs. Tim's voice is friendly. The music is fiddle, banjo, bass and guitar and is not overpowering at all. He laughs, he plays sound effects and makes this story a fun story for young children.

A boy and his dog Arlo head out to the country store on a hot summer day with a nickle in his hand, kicking a can along the way. His friends Bob and Jim on his bike join him on the walk. The journey with Bob and Jim is the story, as they get themselves in some trouble, but it's a fun trouble that can get young kids laughing. This is a fun story for all ages, young and old.

"Life is full of wonderful adventures, keep dreaming and believing, travel safe and keep on keeping on."

The multitalented Tim Noah has written both words and music and provided the illustrations for this little children's book COUNTRY STORE. Tim is an award-winning composer, producer and recording artist, having appeared on HBO, the Disney Channel and the BBC. Though he has travelled broadly he has settle in Washington State where he plans to continue this charming series of children's books.

The illustrations are as enchanting as the story and the music as we see a little lad with a nickel goin' to the country store with his dog and invites his friend Bob who is eager to go if he gets help with his chores - farm business galore! But off they go on the long journey to the country store when friend Jim comes along on his bike and offers them a ride. Along they proceed, encounter a mountain and a short cut. Jim assures them the mountain is no problem but it is an arduous trip and they all are pooped when they reach the top and realize the store isn't there. Back down they go with great speed - the bike has no brakes and they run into a cow! But when they pick themselves up and dust themselves off they are at the country store! Inside they meet their friends Sally and Merrilee - and the only one with money is our friend with a nickel!

Complete fun with excellent visuals, music and story and rhyme that children (and most likely adults) will use frequently. Highly recommended. Grady Harp, July 15

This is a wonderful story, and paired with the music is very delightful! This book is a must have for any Tim Noah fan and if you have not heard of Tim Noah you will soon be a fan. Tim really knows how to tell a story and you can download the song that goes with this story and listen as you read along. The illustrations, all drawn by Tim, are full of whimsy. I highly recommend this book.
